Alexander Hoptner believes that large investors are investing in innovative areas in the time of falling markets
BitMEX CEO Alexander Hoptner believes that institutional interest in the cryptocurrency industry remains at the same level. The crypto enthusiast stated that he did not notice “even the slightest decrease in institutional interest,” despite the bear market.
According to Hoptner, it is often during the period of falling markets that institutional investors invest in innovative areas. A bearish trend provides much more time for analysis and more favorable conditions. BitMEX CEO also said that individuals who previously invested in crypto assets are now withdrawing funds from digital currencies.
“I think now institutional investors are preparing to provide crypto-currency services. Retail investors will come back later and invest in digital assets again,” Hoptner said.
At the same time, the head of BitMEX pointed to the significant interest of institutionalists in Ethereum after the merger. He noted that the network has become even more tempting to create various projects, and now there is “an ideal time to launch new financial products.”
Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers is confident that regulation can become an “activator” for the crypto industry.”
“The industry often resists regulation, but it often ends up being a significant incentive for the industry,” Summers told an audience at Circle Converge22.
And the head of FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried, believes that the creation of effective regulation of the crypto sphere will help attract corporate capital to the market. In his opinion, the blockchain has quite a few options for use in the financial market and in the media.
“I think there will be regulatory clarity in the industry. And it’s going to be huge and unlock the asset class for a number of institutions that have been looking for a way to get in but have been a bit confused about doing so without clear federal oversight. So I think that both of these exciting factors will make the market much stronger over the next few years,” said Bankman-Fried.
And what do you think about the future of the cryptocurrency industry?
