Buterin speaks about what awaits Ethereum
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin wrote about the prospects for the development of the network. The key result in recent years has been the transition from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake.
“Today, Ethereum has been a stably running proof of stake system for almost exactly two years, and this proof of stake has performed remarkably well in stability, performance and avoiding centralization risks.” Buterin said, adding “However, there still remain some important areas in which proof of stake needs to improve.”
In his opinion, one of the important goals is to reduce the time it takes to conduct transactions — now this can take up to 15 minutes. Buterin suggests solving this issue by completing the process in one slot.
The problem of democratizing staking is associated with reducing the amount of finalization time. The co-founder of Ethereum suggests reducing the minimum deposit for validators to 1 ETH. Such an initiative would attract more users to protect the blockchain.
Buterin considers network security to be another priority area. According to the developer, this can be ensured by implementing the concept of a “single secret leader.” This should prevent hacker attacks on the network.
In addition, it is necessary to study the network’s security against the threat of quantum computing, which Buterin considers a possible problem of the future.
