Hackers compromise Bitcoin.org

Unknown people hacked one of the oldest platforms about the first cryptocurrency — Bitcoin.org. The scammers posted an announcement on the website about the distribution of digital currency. As a result, the domain registrar Namecheap restricted access to the portal.

Today, September 23rd, Twitter users started posting the offer to Bitcoin.org users. Unknown persons offered to transfer cryptocurrency to a specific address — they promised to double the funds sent.

“Bitcoin.org has never been hacked. And then we Bitcoin.org hasn’t been hacked, ever. And then we move to Cloudflare, and two months later we get hacked. Can you explain where you were routing my traffic too? Because my actual server didn’t get any traffic during hack,” wrote the website operator under the nickname Cobra.

Within a few hours, more than 0.4 bitcoins were sent to the fraudulent address. Their cost is estimated at about $17,800. Almost the entire amount was transferred using just one transaction. Probably, the cryptocurrency was sent by the scammers themselves.

Almost half of the investors are ready to invest in a crypto asset if it is advised by a celebrity

About 45% of crypto investors are ready to invest in digital currencies, if a celebrity advises it. This is stated in a study by Morning Consultant. However, 81% of investors prefer to listen to the recommendations of professional financial consultants.

More than 2 thousand US residents took part in the survey. It found that digital asset holders prefer to look for investment recommendations on social media and brokerage apps. However, many players do not take the advice of existing crypto investors seriously.

Earlier, Piplsay experts came to similar conclusions. According to their research, more than a third of investors closely follow Elon Musk’s tweets. Analysts pointed out that celebrity posts about digital assets have a high conversion, indicating that among their followers there is a significant number of crypto investors.
