“I’m not Satoshi”: HBO documentary creators named the alleged BTC creator
A documentary about the probable creator of Bitcoin has been released in the US. The creators of the documentary claim that Satoshi Nakamoto is actually a programmer Peter Todd. He was one of the most active developers back in the early days of BTC.
The authors of the film believe that the Canadian programmer allegedly unwittingly continued Nakamoto’s publication in a discussion about the technical details of the main cryptocurrency on one of the forums. And he did this from his account, after which both accounts were inactive for the same period of time. In addition, it was the developer who implemented the replace by fee function, which was discussed on the platform.
The film also says that Todd once participated in a discussion about the possibility of “sacrificing bitcoins.” This could have been about destroying the BTC that were in Nakamoto’s wallets.
At the same time, the developer denies his participation in the creation of BTC, saying: “I’m not Satoshi.”
“This is going to be very funny when you put this into the documentary and a bunch of bitcoiners watch it,” Todd said. “I suspect a lot of them will be very happy if you go this route because it’s yet another example of journalists really missing the point in a way that’s very funny.”
