The rate of almost all major cryptocurrencies related to the metaverse has fallen over the past week. The exception was the ApeCoin token, the price of which rose from April 7 to April 13 this year.

But the most popular Decentraland token (MANA) has significantly fallen in price over the past 7 days. Currently, its price is about $2.13, which is more than 13% cheaper than the same indicator a week ago. MANA’s market capitalization is below $4 billion.

However, investor interest in the metaverse industry remains. For example, the well-known game developer Epic Games has closed a $2 billion round. The funding raised is intended for the development of projects in the field of metaverses.

The lead investor was Sony, which invested $1 billion. KIRKBI, which owns LEGO, was also involved in the deal. Partners will develop projects for games in virtual reality.

Previously, the video game developer released a statement about plans to collaborate with LEGO. Its goal is to make the metaverses “safe and fun for kids and families” and provide them with an “immersive, inspiring and engaging” experience.

“We are reimagining the future of entertainment and we need partners to share our vision. Our company found them in Sony and KIRKBI. Their funding will accelerate our work to create a metaverse and create spaces where players can have fun with their friends,” said Tim Sweeney, CEO and founder of Epic Games.

As a result of the transaction, the company noted, Epic Games’ valuation could reach $31.5 billion.

Mastercard also intends to register 15 trademarks that will be associated with the metaverse and digital currencies. We are talking about “NFT with support for multimedia, a marketplace for digital goods, as well as processing payment transactions and software for e-commerce in the metaverse.”

Mastercard refers to the metaverses in the context of “sponsoring cultural and sporting events, charity events, concerts, travel, buffets, festivals and awards.”

Media writes that in the 12 months to February of this year, the number of applications for registration of brands for the metaverse increased from 13 to 257. Does this mean that users should expect an explosive development in this area in the coming years?
